Gorilla Haven is the world's only private, AZA* certified gorilla holding facility. It was not designed to be open to the public and is still under construction, but owners, Steuart and Jane Dewar, have offered to provide some personal tours to offer a rare opportunity to our friends and neighbors, and to help raise funds for this important project.

Joe the Gorilla

What You'll See: Walking tour will include behind-the-scenes of the GH facility, including gorilla villas, habitat, veterinary hospital, food preparation room, administration, and group building. Chances of seeing gorilla residents, Joe and Oliver, are excellent and photography is allowed.

What to Expect: The tour will be rain or shine; it is on mountainous terrain and there is some climbing and walking on graveled roads involved. GH souvenirs will be available for sale and complimentary beverages will be provided. Parking is limited, so please car-pool.

Oliver the Gorilla

Donations of $50 per person (tax deductible) will be requested for people over 18 years of age; other family members (up to 6 people) are $25 each. Children under 12 years old by special permission.

Reservations will be confirmed upon receipt of donation and registration form. Rain-checks available if you or GH have to cancel the tour. Space is limited to 25 people per tour.

What some 2007 tour guests said:

• Worth every penny and then some, for a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Simply amazing!

•Thank you so much for opening your wonderful facility and life up to us. We can't stop talking about it. (The kids) were both so inspired by the lives of Joe and Oliver ...(One) has a new found love and passion for this wonderful animal.. may your passion save all the gorillas.

• It was fantastic!!! The two of you deserve such praise and well deserved pat on the back for all your work and dedication to these wonderful animals.

• We would like to extend our heart felt thanks to you for opening Gorilla Haven for the tour ... It was most enjoyable, interesting, and informative. The facility is first class and a credit to our country, our state, and to our county. The chance to be up close with Joe was so stimulating and it was an experience we will never forget.
